Soggy Eddy

It has been raining a lot lately, which means that Eddy has been leaking a lot and smelling funnier than normal. I know that I wrote about how Eddy leaks before, but telling you is not enough. So, just in case you thought I was exaggerating in my earlier post about Eddy's quirks, I have pictures to prove it.

Here you can see a little pond forming on my gear shifter thingy do.

The seal around the door isn't very tight, so the water comes in here too.

This is the white "stuff" that protrudes from the ceiling whenever Eddy starts to dry out.

This is my leg. Take notice to the wet spot. That happens when I have to sit next to the door with the leaky seal.

Eddy and his little small flaws make life exciting. His idiosyncrasies have given me many fond memories. I will always remember my first car, and all of the adventures I have had, and will have, in it.

**What does the word soggy make you think of? I always think of a wet piece of bread**

Eddy is ill :(

For those of you who don't know, Eddy is my car. Unfortunately, Eddy has been making some weird noises lately among other minor problems.

Let's start from the begining. Eddy has had a leaky roof ever since he has been with me. That is not a problem until it rains or snows and the moisture from the ceiling leaks through on to the seats or disperses through the air onto the windows and windshield. My boss' husband tried to fix that last week by putting some gooey stuff in by the windshield. However, that didn't work and I still have to scrape my windows from the inside and outside of the car.

Eddy has also always smelled a little wierd. It is probably from the moisture the is in the ceiling, which by the way leaves a wonderful white residue. I refer to it as "decoration". About a month ago Belle bought me some air fresheners, so now Eddy smells like strawberry instead of soggyness.

These two minor flaws have been around all along, and don't really bother me. The real trouble started when it finally got cold outside. January is when the weird sounds started occuring. First I noticed a squeaky sound around my glovebox. That turned out just to be my heater, which is temperamental and doesn't work if it gets too cold outside. I can deal with a squeaky heater. It is slightly annoying, but I doesn't cost me any money.

After I figured that out another noise arose from the depths of the car. There was a loud clicking sound that would happen whenever I accelerated. After a few weeks of ignoring the sound and hoping it would go away, my boss' husband once again helped me out and advised me that I needed to check my oil. Well, it happened to be that Eddy was totally out of oil. If only someone had told me before that you need to check that regularly. Anyways, I put some oil in Eddy, and that solved the problem, for about a day.

Now I have a new sound. This new sound is an extremely loud droning sound. At first thought, most assumed that it was my muffler. This was sad news because mufflers cost money. However after having my brother crawl under the car, (I would do it, but I have no idea what I would be looking for), He informed me that my exhaust pipe broke off. It will cost me about $100.00 to fix Eddy.

He sounds so terrible. I passed 3 cop cars today and was afraid I would get pulled over for being to loud, but that didn't happen. I suppose I will have to put the passport on hold and fix Eddy first. At least he still gets me where I need to go. Hopefully he will make a full recovery and start acting normal again.
